On Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September, I completed a short course with the Australian Institute of Management. The course is marketed as a shortened version of a Master of Business Administration (MBA), taking the core principles of the MBA and condensing them into a digestible but widely applicable learning experience.
They market it as their highest-rated course, and having been through it, I can see exactly why.
Through a mixed delivery – 25 hours of online content and two days of in-person application – we learned about the theoretical and practical use cases of six pillars in business administration: leadership, strategy, customers, numbers, change and action.
From start to finish, it was a highly engaging experience. As someone who is growing in a leadership role, I found the lessons so well connected. It was rewarding to see how the leadership module transitioned seamlessly into strategy, customers and change.
A goal of mine is to get my MBA, but I’m not willing to wait until then to learn practical tools for the workplace. I walked out of this course with a new perspective on the importance of leadership, why change is so important, and how identity in business is crucial for success.
I look forward to writing some more pieces about each module, and how I have been able to use it in the workplace.
Talk soon.
